Change

Today seemed like an ordinary day, but when I stop and think on what I have done today I realize I have made a change today. I cut my hair! I made the appointment on the spur of the moment at 9:15 am and by 9:45 am I was at my salon and looking thru books. I thought I was just getting a trim but the book was calling my name, and it was telling me "go new". Now I know books don't normally talk but this one did! So what was I to do but listen. So I cut about 4 1/2 to 5 inches off and went for a bob with a few short layers. I met my husband afterward at the bank and he said he hadn't realized it was me at first. I will post a picture in the next day or so. I like the style and I love the length. I did go shorter about 5 years ago but this I think is more feminine and mature looking.
After that, I realized I had not yet taken my son's one year portraits yet, I was waiting till he would stand well by himself, and he is at that point. He runs pushing things and he climbs but he still will only go 3-4 steps at a time with out holding on to something. Oh well to each they're own I guess. He was very sick off and on from 8-11 months old and he was diagnosed with a condition that causes bleeding and inflamation in the joints which was painful for him to bend at the knees and ankles for some time. We thought he was just being lazy right at first and just wanted us to do it for him, boy did we feel bad when we realized. Anyway, I think that may be the fear behind his walking. I will post more about I journey to a healthy and happy baby soon. Wow I just realized how much I rambled and almost forgot my point to the story, "what I did today". For my son's one year pictures I buy a tuxedo and I have a top hat and cane. So I ordered the tux for the Little Mister today and should be able to get pics taken sometime next week. Yeh!!
I will post the pictures later of both my little darlings in they're tux's because they are so darling.

Reflections


I took this picture a month or so ago and never thought I would love it as much as I did. I just completed a layout and am pleased with how it turned out.
I kept it simple since I wanted the picture to make the most impact. It's moments like these that makes me love scrapbooking.

Spring is here!

Spring has arrived for us finally. All of my spring bulbs are up and some are blooming. I was at menards last weekend and they had the most beautiful rose bushes all colors and variety's on sale. $2.99 each plus a dollar rebate for up to 4 bushes. I plan to plant them tommorrow along with two more miniature rose bushes my husband got for me as a gift. I have a rose garden that will now be full and beautiful by my patio. We have gotten a ton of rain, so I'm sure I'll be busy digging up my new flower bed for the front of our house. I think we have managed to raked all our leaves now, I realized exactly how out of shape I was the day after all my raking, because I felt like an old lady. Not to self, excersise a lot!!!
I have talked my husband into several projects this spring; first we are moving one of our mini sttorage barns to the back of our property by the garden, we'll paint it to match the house and plant some annuals and then spring bulbs in the fall. then we are taking out the window in front of my kitchen sink since it is only about 24 inches high and you have to be at least 5'5" to see outside and replace it with a large window that will alow me to see my beautiful rose garden. We are adding another section of kitchen cabinets and countertops as well as a DISHWASHER! How awesome is that? The other window in the kitchen is also being taken out and replaced with a door to go directly out to the back patio. I feel so lucky and am excited for the changes. I plan to use the new section of cabinets as a scrapbooking nook for myself so I can work on projects and have to keep putting it all away.
Indeed spring is here and many fresh and new things are coming. God Bless and happy blogging, Christina

Weight loss challenge! Week 1

I am so excited to have started my second weight loss challenge last night. Every thursday evening at 6:30p.m. I wil be getting together with an average of 15 - 20 other women striving towards the same goal; LOSE WEIGHT!
Each week we will be getting weighed in, then our coaches will speak on a specific topic that will pertain to nutrition and weight loss. Last night the topic was on protien and how much we need for successful weightloss and the importance of choosing the right sources of protien to also stay within our calorie allowances for the day.
I choose to go with a high quality protien shake for breakfast and lunch which will amount to about 500 calories and 56 grams of protien. That leaves me with 700 calories for my snacks and my dinner with my family. I try to do about 10-15 grams of protien under 200 calories for my two snacks combined, leaving me with a 500 calorie dinner. I cook lean chicken and tuna for the most part but incorporate lean red meat on occasion. I am known for cooking 2-3 different veggies to go along with my meat and making a different side dish of m. potatoes for the rest of the family. At the end of the day my ultimate goal is to stay between 1200 and 1300 calories with about 85-110 grams of protien.
I think the competion will be strong this class as we have many who are focused and disciplined to reach the success level they desire.

For today;
breakfast- high protien shake 230calories- 28grams protien
snack- protien bar 120calories- 12 grams protien
lunch- high protien shake 230 calories- 28grams protien
snack- 1oz soy nuts 120 calories- 16 grams protien
dinner- large salad with 2.5 oz chicken, 1oz soy nuts, 1oz light cheese, 1/2 avocado, 1 roma tomatoe, green pepper, onion, cucumber, sprinkle of dried cranberries and kraft light balsamic vinegarette

I don't want to keep on and on and bore you, just wanted to give you an idea of how I am able to reach my daily protien goal.
